Cry IndonesiaMusic & Video Project Project Endorsements Hearts of Faith mp3 Samples Hearts of Faith Lyrics Ordering Information This unique resource package includes a CD collection of 14 indigenous, professionally produced, Indonesian songs called Hearts of Faith as well as the informative and compelling Cry Indonesia video which features the songs from the CD, complete with subtitles.
Islamic extremists, backed by elements of the Indonesian military have launched a 'holy war' in this forgotten part of the world since January 1999. Whole villages have been destroyed and over 10 000 lives have been lost. As recently as December 2001 the jihad activity in Maluku was still causing terror on these once predominantly Christian islands. Towns such as Manado, Bitung and Tondano in Northern Sulawesi have now provided a safe haven from the violence of their homelands. It was our privilege to visit these places, meet the people, hear their stories and share their tears. On many occasions we found that the refugees expressed their grief through the singing of original compositions, written out of what they have experienced over the last three years. Both the content and the style of songs is compelling and moving. Our heart has been to capture their sounds and stories through these songs and to see the cause of the Malukan Christians ring out around the world.
We believe this music project and accompanying video will serve to draw awareness in the West to the plight of the suffering church; not just in Maluku, but around the world. We also believe it will also serve as a great encouragement to Christians everywhere who face various kinds of trials. These songs are a tremendous source of inspiration! The video brings the CD to life in a visual way. It contains rare footage of Maluku, images of destruction, refugee communities, live music recordings, testimonies of survivors and much more. You will be introduced to the background to the conflict as well as discovering how you can be involved in helping to make a difference. Where footage of the songs occurs, English translations appear as subtitles. Yours in partnership with the Malukan Christians, Pastor Ian Freestone |
