Cry Indonesia Resource PackPrayer PointsCry Indonesia The Australian church has a special mandate to rise up
and show the love of Christ to the Indonesian people and to
cry out to God on their behalf. "If we as Christians had half the outrage of Islamic extremists and expressed it, not in violence, but in earnest prayer to God and practical support for our suffering brothers and sisters, then perhaps the world would see our love for one another." (I.Freestone, Sep 2001).
Pray for effective medical treatment of diseases that threaten to afflict many in crowded refugee centres. Pray for safety and security as many now contemplate returning to their places of origin. Pray that they would know the living reality of a daily relationship with Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. Pray that the suffering church in Indonesia would rediscover what it means to be the Body of Christ, now that a lot of the old church infrastructure has been destroyed. Pray for the estimated 7000 Christians, especially in Nth Maluku who are believed to have been forced Islamised and are being held against their will by jihad captors and non-neutral military. Pray that their faith in Jesus Christ may remain strong and that they would know freedom and justice. Pray for the many christian young people who have been kidnapped and are now being indoctrinated in principles of jihad and acts of violence against Christians. Pray for a release of funds so that we can continue to minister to them and let them know they are not alone.
Pray for Dr Jeff and Annette Hammond who head up the ministry of IFC in Indonesia as they pour their lives into the needs of the suffering church in East Indonesia. Pray for the team of 20 from IFC, who minister day in, day out among the refugees providing for their practical needs, engaging in evangelism, prayer counselling, pastoral support, leadership training, youth work and cell church ministry. Pray for the local churches in areas such as Manado, Bitung, Tentena, Ambon, Tobelo that they may have provision, patience, wisdom and grace in continuing to offer hospitality and assistance the thousands who are seeking refuge in their towns. Pray for the different teams who visit from overseas to minister among the refugees. That their ministry might be effective and strategic.
Pray that God would move powerfully across the nation of Indonesia and turn people's hearts towards Him. That there would be a harvest of millions for Jesus Christ. Pray for the political leaders within Indonesia; especially Christians and muslim moderates, that they would have the courage to stand against Islamic extremism. Ask God to prevent radicals from gaining control and implementing Islamic Law as they desire. Many wish to amend the Indonesian Constitution to include the 'Jakarta charter' which would obligate all Indonesians to practice Islam. Pray these plans wouldn't be successful. Pray that God would reverse the trend of religious extremism within Indonesia and that all peoples might live in peace.
Pray for the Body of Christ worldwide. That we would cry out to God on behalf of the suffering church. That governments around the world, as well the United Nations would take seriously the issues affecting the people of East Indonesia and respond appropriately, ensuring protection of human rights, material provision and support to peace initiatives
Pray that the recent 'Malino Agreements' concerning Central Sulawesi and Ambon, and signed by Muslim and Christian representatives would assist in lasting peace and true reconciliation Pray that the area of Nth Maluku would have opportunity to have their own 'Malino Agreement.' Pray that the efforts of some to derail peace initiatives within East Indonesia would be brought to nothing. Pray that Christians would not allow themselves to be provoked by outside forces; that they would have spiritual wisdom and respond with discernment and prayer. Pray for the Muslim hardliners who persecute Christians; that they would have a Damascus Road experience and become preachers of the gospel. |
